Re: Pre E??
I was diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertention, my highest blood pressure at that point was 160/110 at 32 weeks. I had no other pre e symptoms and started lebetalol. I also had steroid shots and was put on bed rest. The lebetalol helped r about 2 weeks then my blood pressure began spiking anytime I was upright. They also found that my numbers were elevated though still not enough for pre e. at 36 weeks I was in and out of hospital for BP and my protein was at 400 so I was diagnosed with pre e. since I had had a severe headache for days I was induced for severe pre e at 36 weeks. I had twice weekly dr. Appointments that included NSTs and BPPs I also monitored BP at home twice a day. In the end I had an emergency c section, as LO went into distress during induction (he had his cord twice wrapped around his neck. He had to stay in the nursery for the first night due to low blood sugar and we stayed 6 days for recovery. He also had mild jaundice treated with photo therapy.
1st pregnancy- I started feeling bad around 33 weeks. I called my OB but they told me to take it easy. Looking back, that's when it really started for me. I started having chest pain in my upper right chest area and my vision was just a little off- no spots- but just not right. I was completely drained and exhausted, I had terrible swelling (my kidneys shut down so I retained the fluid) and I was really out of it. At 35 1/2 weeks, they did a 24 hour urine. When I went back for the results, my OB looked at me and said she didn't need the results- I had pre-e bad. Turned out my BP was over 150/110 and my protein was "off the charts" (her words). I had an emergency c-section within an hour. I was exactly 36 weeks. My baby was full term and healthy - he actually was so big (9lbs, 3oz) he had trouble regulating his blood sugar (common with big babies). After 3 days, he was fine. At the time he was born, I was past pre-e and it moved to HELLP - my kidneys shut down and it took a week to get me healthy again. My BP took several weeks to go down, but then I had no lingering problems.
2nd pregnancy- I started spilling protein at 32 weeks. My number was about 600 at that point (supposed to be no higher than 300 but the first pregnancy, it was in the thousands so he wasn't too concerned about 600). I was put on modified rest. At 32 weeks, my BP went up and my OB put me in the hospital. After 4 days in the hospital, my BP went back to almost normal and my protein lingered around 500. He kept me in the hospital until dd was born at 36 1/2 weeks (via c-section) only because it was July and extremely hot - and he knew I had a toddler at home so I wouldn't get a lot of rest. I think he knew I was also A type person who can't sit in bed! The bedrest really helped me and I had no problems recovering from the delivery. The second pregnancy I never had any of the symptoms that I did the first time. During my hospital stay, I had NST's 3x a week and my BP was monitored every 4 hours.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
Developed pre-e with both pregnancies. With DS1, i developed around 34 weeks, was on bed rest for a week, and then was induced at 35w, 4d b/c pre-e had become severe. I delivered vaginally.
With DS2, I developed earlier at 30 weeks. I was on bed rest for 7 weeks, monitored BP at home, and had twice weekly NSTs/BP checks. I was induced at 37w and also delivered vaginally.
Best of luck!
DS1: Quinn - 10.22.10 and DS2: Cole - 01.18.13
