Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Alimentum

Anyone had success with this?  Our Pediatrician thinks our LO has reflux- the last 2 weeks he has been really difficult after feeding (crying and uncomfortable for 1-2 hrs after feeding- both breastmilk and formula), arching his back, spitting up.  We started Xantac last week but haven't seen a difference.  He is currently on Similac Sensitive and we are desperate- have heard good things about Alimentum (other than the cost).  Waiting on a call back from pediatrician...

Re: Alimentum

  • We tried it for about a month then after our first GI appt we switched to Similac for Spit Up...it has rice starch in it so it is thicker and stays down. I thought he was doing well on Alimentum but the switch helped even more...refluxed and spit up less. Have you tried this?oh, And we only use ready to feed...it's easier to come out of the nipple as ive heard the powder clogs the nipple from the starch.

  • We started tonight, got the ready to feed as it was all Babies R us had.  First time LO hasn't screamed for 2 hours after eating in 2 weeks....fingers crossed this helps...
  • We started about 24 hours ago on the powder form. I can't say I've noticed any difference in my daughter, she screams within 5 mins of finishing the bottle. But I'm wondering if she has silent reflux. The smell of Alimentum makes me gag but fortunately she doesn't seem to mind the taste.
  • we tried this as well.  Our son had colic and the doctor prescribed this for a month.  he only drink it for about 4 days, but it cleared up the colic QUICK!!!  he used to arch his back and cry as well.  but not anymore...thank GOD!!

    now he is on enfamil/soy...

  • My daughter use to cry all the time. She had a lot of gaz. We tried 4 different brands before switching to Alimentum and no more crying! Happy baby, happy mommy
  • Thanks!  So far he seems much happier, less crying.  Hoping it continues!  Wow, do his poops stink though!  ;)
