Crib transition

For those of you who've already transitioned LO to their crib, at what age did you do it and how did you make the transition? My LO is 6 weeks and I was thinking of starting the transition around 8 weeks. I'd like to have him sleeping in his crib before I go back to work at 12 weeks

Re: Crib transition

  • DS has been in his crib for about 2 weeks now. I just started putting him in there at night and he took to it fine. I sleep in the nursery with him so I haven't been able to transition myself back to my bed yet. ;-)

  • I have been trying to remember when I transitioned my FB to a crib, and been having a hard time remembering exactly when it was. I really think it was around 3 months. I do know that we just slowly stopped letting her fall asleep in our arms, instead put her down while she was very sleepy.

  • Do it as early as possible. The earlier you do it the easier it will be. I transitioned mine at 6 weeks because my brother and sister both have babies too who are 3 and 6 months older then mine and they both had a heck of time transitioning them once they were older. It took two days for my LO to adjust. Id put her down and she would fuss and I would have to constantly go back in there to reassure her usually took 20 or 30 minutes for her to fall asleep. Then at night shed wake every hour crying. But after two days she was able to go longer stretches at night and putting her down for naps got easier to the point I could just plop her in there and shed go right to sleep. Now she is 5 months old and is awesome at sleeping in her crib day or night while my 8 month old nephew is STILL having issues. lol.

  • DS is 4 weeks and we'll probably do it soon. Our house is small and his room is next to ours. He likes his crib so much better than the bassinet in our room, so I think it will be better for everyone.

Everyone will have a different opinion on this, but let your LO be your guide. Every baby is different.
