I'm not sure I like it as standalone. But I do love it as a nickname. My brother (30 yrs old now) is named Abram and his nickname is Abe. He's always loved his name! I used to never see it (like, ever) and all of a sudden it is popping up on this board more and more (like just the past few weeks).
I love it...but only as a nickname for Abram or Abraham.I do not think it is good as a stand alone name.

We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
I love, love, love Abe! I agree it doesn't work by itself though. If we have another boy we are considering Abel or Abram. I'm leaning towards Abel, though I know it's not everyones style.
