Severe Allergies

My DS has horrible allergies.  His eyes are always watering, he gets ear infections easily, I feel so bad for him.

We get his ears adjusted at the chiro and that helps a ton, but he still always needs some kind of allergy med.

Anyone else go this?  Is it too early for shots?  Does he need to just bear with it til' his immune system builds

Re: Severe Allergies

  • The allergist prescribed DS and DD Xyzal . She said it's a newer antihistamine and it's better than Zyrtec and Claritin. I haven't given it to DS yet (haven't seen any need), but I'd be curious at what age they would start shots?

  • Unless he has been tested for certainly allergens I don't think they will start shots. My daughter was tested at 2.5 yrs. We have used Claritin as well as a prescription nose spray. Claritin worked well but not great! She is on her second set of tubes and just had her tonsils and adenoids removed and we are hoping that helps. I think you should talk to your Pediatrician or make an appointment with an ENT to see what they think.
  • what have you tried so far in terms of meds?  We do zyrtec daily for DS2.  Otherwise he seems to be prone to infections.   Maybe talk to a dr about tubes?
