PR: shoes

So now that ds can walk pretty well (knock on wood), I'm not so sure I need to shell out 40 bucks every other month at the altar of stride rite. I'm not trying to be too cheap, but is there somewhere you recommend that I can get shoes for him? This sounds like such a dumb question, but I can't physically haul his buns around the mall for hours. There's got to be a middle road between Kmart and stride rite.

  • Do you have a Once Upon a Child or other consignment shop around you?  I have had a lot of luck finding brand new Stride Rite shoes there.

This. Also, our equivalent of Target, and I had good luck at Kohl's when I was in the States.

  • I still buy DD cheap shoes, she doesn't really wera them to walk in right now, she wears hem a a cover for her feet!  She is in an in-home and wears socks, it is icy and nasty so she doesn't walk around outside and before it snowed, I prety much carried her and put her in a cart.

Once spring hits, I will be pickier on her shoes since she will be walking and playing in them.  I don't know much about Stride Right but I will be putting her in a spportive shoe, whatever that may be!

  • Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to try out target and maybe look on ebay. I'm trying not to overthink this, but thinking of any sort right now is tough.

  • Payless SmartFit shoes are made by the same company that makes Stride Rite. I admit I do see a difference in Stride Rite shoes vs. cheap shoes on DS so I'll pick up a pair on sale or at the outlet but the ones from Payless aren't bad.

My DS has wide feet and the Payless Smart Fit are fantastic! I'll never go back to stride rite.

  • We get measured at Stride Rite and then buy online cause it's a little cheaper that way.

  • I get DS's shoes on 6pm.com. You can find Stride Rite, Pediped, See Kai Run.... for around $20. I also get his Converse and Vans on that site.

  • Zulily often has Stride Rites for like $20.00. I can't stand paying more than $20 for a pair of kids shoes. To me its ridiculous. I usually get her shoes at consignment sales, target or walmart and sometimes Kohl's.
