I was able to 3 weeks after my C. My old car was a stick, if I had an auto it would have been sooner. My OB said that once I was off percocet (which I was on day 2, so that was irrelevant) and could slam on the brakes I was good.
My doctor said 2 weeks as long as I was off the percs. I don't think I drove for about 3-4 weeks after though, H was off for a while and able to take us where we needed to go.
I was cleared to drive at my 1 week check, as long as I was off the percs...and I was! I was pleasantly surprised to be cleared that early, as everyone said it would be like 2-3 weeks. I was so glad to be cleared!

I was allowed to drive if I wasn't on Percosets at around 3 weeks. Shocked the heck out of my Mom who had me by a C-section almost 26 years ago...she wasn't allowed to drive for 8 weeks!

I did just a few days after we got home and I was on my own for dr appts and newborn pics at 10 days pp. I only took Ibuprofen after the first day in the hospital so i didn't have any strong drugs to worry about while driving.
I was instructed not to drive for 2 weeks. My friend drove me and DS to his 1 week check up, at that check up he had to be referred to an ears, nose, & throat specialist 45 mins. away from my house. I told my dr. I wouldn't have anyone available to drive me so she cleared me to drive. I drove home from that appointment and the next day but she also felt I had an amazing recovery (that doesn't mean I wasn't in pain) but my leg and feet swelling had subsided, which helped a lot. The hardest part was obviously having to lift DS in his car seat in and out of the car and I could tell I'd taken on a lot by the end of that day.
I was cleared at 2 weeks PP. I think it was really when I was off the percocet (which was 3 days). My mom was in town & a retired nurse and insisted I wait the 2 weeks. My mother is "older" and lives in rural WI, her driving in "the big city" (i.e. Denver) scared the bejeesus out of me - I think I lost 3 years off my life in those 2 weeks. HA! Needless to say, I drove myself to my 2 week PP apt (against her will) and never let her drive again.
I did drive at 4 days PP to the grocery store because DH came down with the stomach flu & we needed supplies. I was so sleep deprived, I went to check out, and realized I left my purse & wallet at home. I had to go back home & back to the store.
Mine said about 10 days. (I just asked yesterday.) She said I need to be off all pain medications and able to twist my body around (basically to check traffic I think). This will be c/s #3 for me. Not sure if that makes a difference.

They told me two weeks, but I drove a couple of days early. I had been off the serious meds for over a week by that point, and I believe that was the primary concern.
It's not only the pain meds, but when you are feeling comfortable enough that they don't have to worry your reflexes will be dulled by your body's attempt to preserve itself against pain. Going in the car is pretty painful -- all the bumps and twisting -- for about two weeks. Then it gets easier and I'd feel comfortable driving.
