I don't like what Disney has become in the last 10 years. But the kid, live actor shows are real catchy. If one of those are on, I will be glued to the TV.

We don't have satellite or cable anymore, but DS watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. There is only one episode on Netflix, so he has couple Mickey DVDs for variety. He loves Blue's Clues and Yo Gabba Gabba, so I guess he's technically a Nick jr. kid.
We don't have a TV but both of my children have favorites.
The only thing DD ever watches is an HBO show/special that her grandparents have DVRed at their house. It is called Classical Baby and it is just very sweet animation of various classical music pieces. I like it a lot too.
DS who is two and a half likes to watch Mister Rogers on amazon instant video. For anyone who has an amazon prime membership, they have a huge collection of Mister Rogers episodes and they are absolutely delightful.
We are more of a PBS family. I turn on Sesame Street almost every morning. She pays attention to the muppets most of all. She absolutely looooves Elmo and Cookie Monster. DH got a Sesame Street DVD with episodes from 1979-1984 and it is better than Sesame Street Is today. I also like Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.

I can't wrap my head around this show. I like the old Mr. Rodger's show. They tried to keep some of the old characters, but they just doesn't seem to fit.
They should totally bring back Reading Rainbow. And I do mean the orginal shows. I learned so much from those. As well as Rescue 911! Hmm.....now I think I know why I liked Star Track so much!

Oh, Mr. Rogers is so much better, but I like Daniel Tiger because he is from Mr. Rogers. :-)
I was just telling DH the other day that they need to bring back Reading Rainbow. That show was so good!

I am pretty sure some of the original reading rainbow episodes are now available on DVD. Amazon also has 25 episodes of reading rainbow available via instant video (free if you have prime otherwise it is $1.99/episode, or $24.99 for all 25 episodes ). My 2 yearold is afraid of the theme song so I have yet to watch any of them.
Am I the only one whose LO doesn't watch kids TV? The only time I turn plop her in front of the TV w/ a kids show is when I need to cut her nails. Then she zones out and I can get the job done. LOL.
Now, I do have the TV on while she's around - during the day I usually watch Jeopardy while she's having her snack. And on weekends, some sort of sport is usually on. But DD doesn't have any of her own shows. ANd if she starts zoning out with whatever is on we either turn it off or get her engaged with something else. IDK...I know I'm probably weird about it.
And, FWIW, we don't have cable so whatever TV shows she'll get will be on PBS. (PBS FTW! Reading Rainbow is the bomb! I can still remember favorite episodes. And good info on old Mr Rogers and Sesame Street episodes!)
We definitely don't plop her in front of the tv. I have it on in the background when we are playing. The only time she is watching it and just sitting there is when I am finishing making her breakfast (I can't see her in the living room from the kitchen, so I have to put her in the high chair so I can see her). She stops dead in her tracks when the muppets come on and starts dancing and laughing. Youtube "Sesame Street Born to Add", it is so awesome.

See, that sounds cute and if DD did that, maybe she'd have some more TV time. But when I put it on kids TV (usually sesame street, but sometimes it something else on PBS) DD just zooooooooooones out. Totally. I say her name (over and over and over) and not a reaction at all. If she got excited or engaged with the TV, then we'd watch some stuff. But she's not there.
We are new to the Disney Jr channel. I thought that it'd be a little old for her but now she loves it. We love Doc McStuffins, whatever that little blurp is about Small Potatoes (DD loves little kid voices), the Mickey Mouse show, and then there was a show with underwater sea creatures I think.
Before we were a PBS Sprouts fam. DD LOVES Super Why, The Chica Show, the Sunny Side Up Show (LOVES Chica) and Thomas the Train. There are others but these are her faves.
I don't plop her in front of the TV but she does definitely tune in. It's only a few times a day that she gets mesmerized but it's because it's something that she is finding funny or interesting so I do allow her to tune in and watch. She is on the go a million mph the rest of the day so it definitely isn't hindering her activity.
