Beta is in and I'm freaking out...

I just spoke to the nurse and first she said she thought the machine processing the bloodwork had issues, then she came back on the line and said Positive and my progesterone levels looked good. I asked about HCG and she said "Well, it's a bit elevated...." I asked how much and she said when they first ran it it was 11000, then they did it again and it was 9000. Um, WTF? I asked what this could mean and she said not sure so he wants to do an U/S on Wednesday. I tried to ask some more questions but she basically said it's not worth worrying about until he gets a look in there. Won't that be too early to see anything anyway??? Do you see a sac that early???

I'm freaking out. First of all if the reading even accurate if they ddi it twice and got two different results?? I have done reading and while I come across several women with that level at 4 weeks who went on to have one healthy pregnancy. Of course I also read that high levels could mean ectopic or "molar" pregnancy.

How am I going to last until wednesday morning???? Not to mention DH is out of town until Thursday night so I'm in it alone.....

Anyone have any experience with any of this? Ectopic? Molar pregnancy?

No experience but wanted to offer some [[hugs]]. How stressful! Can you call back and speak to someone else or ask for the dr to call you? Can you get a repeat beta tomorrow so you might have accurate results before the u/s? Hope Wednesday comes quickly for you. Waiting and not knowing is so hard.

I was thinking that too - Call back and talk to someone else but I guess no matter what they "think" it could be, they really have no way of knowing until I come in and they do u/s...I also asked if I should come back tomrorow for my b/w but she said they will just do it Wednesday.....I could probably insist on that, but at this point I guess an u/s would be more telling that b/w anyway so I might as well wait....

Could it be twins? I think I remember my OB saying that once your HCG is 1000, they should be able to detect it on the ultrasound.

I would call back and make them do the betas again and talk to someone that can explain the two different levels! I am so frustrated for you! FX and hugs!

Twins were my first thought too! Also, my OB had a minimum HCG count at which point he said they could usually see something (it was 1000 or 1500 or something like that). I think the chances of having multiples are much better than those of having a molar pregnancy, thank goodness.

I had an ectopic last pregnancy, and my betas were very low. I think ectopics usually result in extremely low levels because they do not double/triple like a normal pregnancy. So, hopefully you can mark that one of the list.
