lil' gripper cup

I know this cup has been discussed before but...

DD had a Nuby. She drank from it fine but I had to hold it for her. She couldn't get it tipped back far enough.

I got the Lil' Gripper with the straw that everyone has been talking about. Started trying it yesterday. She HATES is. Pushes it away, cries, etc.

I am trying to just give it to her to play with it and get used to it. She is doing a teeny, tiny bit better. How long do you think it will take her?

Or another cup recommendation?

We have the Nuk/Gerber sippy. We had problems with the Nuby also. Then I tried another Nuk cup and it didn't go over so well either. These ones are going great. I set him on the floor when I give him these (with a little bit of watered juice or water in it) so he learns to tip it to use it. He does just fine with them.

Was the Nuby she had a sippy cup as opposed to a straw cup?  I ask because I started my son out on a straw cup (and it took him probably a couple of weeks to really get it) but I recently tried to give him a regular sippy cup and he wanted no part of it.  He didn't really get the tipping it back to drink. I'll probably stick with straw cups, but I may try to re-introduce a regular sippy cup down the road again.

So, if she was orginally using sippy cups, maybe it's just a learning curve and the more she plays with it, the more she'll start to figure it out? I wouldn't give up on it yet!

Oh I'm not giving up yet. I have just never seen her have a "I hate this reaction" like that to anything before. She usually is just so "oh, ok, whatever."

Oh, now that I see what she's been using, I bet the thin straw of the Little Gripper was very strange to her.  We've also tried this Nuby straw cup.  DS didn't like it as much as the Little Gripper, but the straw is much thicker so maybe it would be closer to what your DD is used to.

Hopefully I figure it out soon. Can't afford to keep buying new cups.
