anyone have a recommendation for a great push toy for a baby who can pull up and is learning to walk? ideally, it'd be something that we could use indoors, and that's stable enough not to tip over when the kiddo tries to pull up on it and that won't move too fast for a very beginning walker.
we have the playskool little car thingy that converts to a walker (https://www.amazon.com/Step-Start-Walk-Ride-Colors/dp/B00004T2WP/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1359998677&sr=8-6&keywords=push+toy), but it's not stable enough to pull up on, and it moves a little fast... in other words, we have a baby falling flat on her face a little more often than this mama might prefer!
any bright ideas?
Re: best push toy for practicing walker?
We have this one, too as well as the Laugh and Learn puppy one. My son loves both of them (and we've been using the V Tech one just for play since he was about 3 months old). In all fairness, I don't think ANY of them are stable enough to pull up on or slow enough for a beginner-puller-upper. When my son first started trying to use it, that was my same complaint: it tips and goes way too fast. Fast forward a couple of weeks and he pulls up and FLIES as he pushes it with no issue whatsoever and can even turn well without losing his balance. I think giving a little time for them to get their balance solves all these issues so you might do just fine to tough it out with yours for a little while longer and keep a good eye on him.
thanks, and that makes perfect sense. i'm probably just rushing the poor thing along, because she seems so frustrated when she tries to stand and walk and can't yet. patience was never one of my virtues (and it looks like she inherited that lovely trait) - good advice!
i'll look into that v-tech walker... seems like a good one!
We have the Chicco train and love it. DS still rides it all the time at 2yo. The seat opens and you can put weights in it so it won't tip. I also really like the simple design since we have enough stuff that lights up. And I don't like things that are overly stickered or character related.

I found the Vtech sit n stand to be really unstable. It's too tall and too lightweight and DD did not do well with it even after she was walking. I would recommend something similar to a wooden buggy or cart if you really want stability.
We got one of these and we've liked it thus far. I'm just getting ready to convert it into the ride on bike.

It has a wide base and it does support the weight of a child pulling up and even climbing inside. I added some washers to the front wheels to provide a little more resistance and slow down the roll. It is all wood, so the edges can be more hazardous in the event of a fall or slip so we padded some of the exposed ends with segments of pool noodle.
