we've hired the back-up that attended the birth. In the end, DH was most comfortable with the person he'd worked with before, and I was pretty neutral. I am excited! We haven't met with her yet, but she's got us scheduled and we'll meet up in a few weeks to sign a contract and talk about things. I think she's actually more experienced than the one I had hired last time, but her rate is about the same ($500), so that's great.

Yay!  I can see where your H is coming from.  I would probably prefer the doula you used the first time to.  It is comforting to know how she works and how she handles situations.  GL!
