Babies: 0 - 3 Months

For those of you who have boys...

My son is 2 weeks old and this morning when I was changing him, I noticed one testicle was much larger than the other one. The bigger one looks like it still swollen from birth and one looks like its just gone down. Should I be concerned? Is this normal?

Re: For those of you who have boys...

  • Our son has this issue.  I asked the pedi about it and we went to a specialist to have a scan of his testes done.  For DS both testes are there but one is underdeveloped and the other has compensated.  It will always be that way.  He'll just have one side that hangs a bit lower.  His fertility won't be affected.  We noticed the difference within the first month.

  • I once dated a guy with this same "issue." Haha. You can obviously see it but it is not a problem.
  • It is very normal. Many boys don't even have their testicles descend from their abdomens for months. Ask your pedi at your next appointment for peace of mind, but don't stress about it.
