Jogging stroller recs for city use?

Hello ladies! I am considering the BoB revolution CE to use for both everyday as well as for running, but I live in Philadelphia where many streets/sidewalks are small, narrow and some are cobblestone. I worry that it is too big for some of the older areas of the city and for the little boutique shops that are in my neighborhood. Does anyone have this stroller and use it in a city or does anyone have any recommendations for a different jogging stroller? Storage is an issue for us so I would rather not have an everyday stroller and a separate jogging stroller.

Thanks in advance!

  • Are you planning to do any baby-wearing? We have a City Mini GT, probably a bit smaller than the BoB you are looking at, but we are in an old part of London where there are a lot of places that do not have step-free access, and sometimes the sidewalk just disappears. If you can believe it, there's even a baby boutique that is 5 steps up from the street!

I use the stroller for longer walks where I'm not counting on getting in and out of any of these non-accessible places. So it's good for the park, grocery store, and outdoor market, as well as most transit. When I go shopping and need to navigate steps I wear the baby in the Ergo, unless I know I can count people in the shop or other good samaritans to help me up and down.

  • I'm not really sure that there is an actual jogger (intended to use for jogging) that would be small enough to meet your sidewalk and shopping criteria...by nature, they're just big because they need to be stable and supportive. It is my understanding that the BOB revolution CE isn't even meant for jogging because of the smaller tire size (I could be wrong though)

We have a BOB revolution SE for jogging and outdoor endeavors, and a graco mosaic umbrella stroller for times when BOB's too big...it takes up very little space when folded up so storage of the extra stroller hasn't been an issue.  It just means we have to plan an extra 2 minutes before we leave to put the correct stroller in the car.

  • To be totally honest, I think you'll have a hard time getting away with only 1 stroller in your scenario.  You are probably going to want the BOB for jogging and then something small, lightweight and narrow for your neighborhood.  It's pretty hard to get by with just a large bulky jogger.  I'd look for a good deal on a BOB, either new on sale or maybe off Craiglist and then look for something lightweight as well.  The Valco Snap or Snap4 could work for you because it's very lightweight but still has good size tires for cobblestone.

I have gotten by with just my Uppababy Vista for 15 months but it hasn't been easy and I am dying to get a lightweight stroller but I am waiting for the Valco Snap4 to come out.  Getting the Vista in and out of small spaces and the car can be a pain and I can't wait to have an alternative.
