Help me choose please

Ok ladies and gents I need some help. I am trying to choose a baby carrier to use around the house and on walks to walk my older son to school. It is about a 2 miles round trip. I need something that is easy on and off and have decided on a soft structured carrier. Right now I am between the Ergo, Beco Gemini, and Boba 3g. I have no idea which way to go, I think I may have read and researched too much. I also like the idea of the woven wrap but this is just not easy and fast enough for me to get on and off when we are out an about and I want to try to only have one carrier. Thank you in advance for any advice/info you may give.

Re: Help me choose please

  • Trying on would be best. If at all possible, do that, or order from a site that takes returns.

That said, I've only tried my Ergo Sport and I like it. I have a very average build and it fits well. If you're petite, it might not be great.

  • I'd go try them all on if you can. Things to think about:

Ergo will last you well but will need an infant insert to start with.

Beco will not be knee to knee as long as the Ergo and Boba as it is much more narrow in the baby crotch zone.

Boba even though it's for birth up you'll probably find a problem time when LO wants to be legs out but the bottom is too wide (the newborn setting gets too small and the crotch zone is wider than the Ergo so probably won't fit until closer to 6 months).

  • I have a Beco Butterfly 2 and like it quite a bit. I used it to carry DS in a front carry until I hit being 5-6 months pregnant with #2. I haven't used a lot since then as it is rather difficult getting DS into a back carry with my bump in the way! I have to have a little help getting him on if I do wear him and can only handle about 30 minutes :/

Another note - I got it because it fits through a wide range of sizes. I am 5'5" and my DH is 6'3" and it adjusts to fit both of us :) I am kind of interested in seeing what the brand new Moby carrier is like.
