Baby dropping?

when the baby "drops" does that just mean he's turned head down?  My doctor thinks he is head down, but we'll know for sure on Friday (u/s).  However the past couple of days I've overall just felt a little more comfortable -- less breathless, less pelvic pain (it is still there, just not quite as bad when walking), less "OMG I'M GOING TO BURST AFTER THREE BITES."  I wonder if he's moved down??

Re: Baby dropping?

  • It's possible.  I could tell when my kids dropped because there was no escaping the waddle.  It was so.hard. to get around because it felt like it took me forever to get anywhere.

  • It sounds like baby dropped!

I'm wondering what's going on with my LO. She has never been above my belly button this whole pregnancy. I currently think she is transverse.

  • While my baby has liked to ride low this whole pregnancy, I found that a few weeks ago (week 26 or 27ish) he decided to go head down instead of his previous breech position.  It was uncomfortable bordering on painful for a few days but now I feel fine.  The waddle is definitely there though which MH loves to point out every time we are out walking together.

  • My LO has been head down for a few weeks now, but my belly still sits high. I have noticed my belly actually drop down low twice, once this weekend and once a month or so ago. So I'm guessing dropping is different from going head down, but I'm not sure

  • Baby dropping means the baby has moved lower into the pelvis getting geared for birth...my LO is head down now but still sitting high! In my childbirth class yesterday  said dropping is called Lightning... I'm assuming you can feel when they drop and you have a quick 'whoa!!' reaction!

Not necessarily. Some women definitely can, but I didn't feel either of my first 2 drop. I had people ask me a few times with each whether baby had droppped or not, and I had no idea.
