Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Sleepsacks?

When did you stop using a sleepsack?  We've tried putting her down without it, but she wakes herself up after a couple hours.  She kicks her legs a lot and that wakes her up.  In the sleepsack she sleeps through the night (usually 10-12 hours).  Any suggestions?

  • I think they are supposed to wear it until they are 1.

  • We will keep using ours until he's walking or we can use a regular blanket.

  • If she's sleeping so well in her sleep sack why would be looking to change that? They can sleep in those things way past age 1 if they like it. Leave her in it!

  • They make Sleepsacs for toddlers, if she's happy keep her in it!

  • They can wear them as long as they need one- 2  year olds even learn to walk around in them- kinda funny!  It's tricky for young kids to pull blankets on them to just the right spot, so sleep sacks are great for the first couple years.
  • About 18 months or so? They learn to walk *IN* it.

  • The recommendation to prevent SIDS is that sleepsacks are used instead of blankets until they are 1.  You can buy some sleep sacks that open up at the bottom. Maybe your LO would like that now that she is a little older.  It will give her freedom to kick.

  • The only ones I can find are for 09 months. Where do I find bigger ones. The ones we have aren't going to be comfortable for her much longer.

  • We had LO in a Halo sleepsack until he was over 2yo.  Not only did he sleep better with it, but it was a safe way to sleep with a blanket.  Plus, he couldn't kick it off during the night either.  Halo makes them with foot holes for toddlers too.

  • Still using it at 9m and intend to keep using them as long as LO tolerates it. Figure that sleepsacks with foot holes for toddlers exist so I'll probably buy those too as a sleepsack is way better than a blanket falling off in the middle of the night.

I bought all of ours (small, medium and large) from Zulily. Looks like BRU and Bed Bath & Beyond have large and extra-large, too.
