Hi - I'm a STM and love wearing my newest little guy, who is 9 weeks. I wore my first until I got pregnant and it was uncomfortable (he was 2). I use mostly the Moby wrap, but have started using the Ergo as well (he's 13 lbs and 24 inches and has great head control when awake - I put a rolled up blanket under him but don't use the insert). In the Moby if I do turn his head for him and tuck it under a strap he'll turn it the other way so he's facing my armpit or yank it back out - even if he's half asleep. Occasionally if I'm busy with my 2.5 year old I won't notice and I'm afraid he's going to suffocate! It's freaking me out.
So... I've started using the Ergo more, but he just wants to put his face flat against my chest, smooshing his nose in. My first son always turned his head so his ear was touching my chest, but this little guys doesn't do that. If I gently turn it for him he just turns it right back! I guess my question is, is it ok to wear him like that? It's just so strange.
Thanks!
Re: 9 week old smooshing face in carrier
I don't see it being too much of a problem. Smoosh your nose with your finger - you can still breathe through it, right? It just feels a little different. A baby is programmed to breathe through their nose, so if there is something truly interfering with that then they will seek to overcome that obstacle.
