Plus sized and pregnant - pros and cons

Yes, I'm being a PW today.

Pros:

  • I'm totally used to having a belly, so no real surprises there.
  • I'm used to clothes not fitting and loving elastic waists.
  • Aches and pains just because I'm heavy? Meh, routine.

Cons:

  • Not having that cute little "bump".
  • Getting even heavier when you were already heavy and uncomfortable.
  • Feeling like a whale. :(

  • One pro for me is that its the only time showing off the belly is a good thing :).

    Definitely!  Yes

  • I totally agree.  No one knows I am PG unless I say something as I just look bigger than I was.  DH and family can tell because they know me, but I wish I had the cute bump.
  • It sucks to feel like a whale at 21 weeks, I hear you. And I have utter bump envy for most every one I see. But I'm trying to take it in stride and simply be happy to be pregnant.

We lost our first (EDD 07/23/12) after finding out at 12 weeks there was no longer a heartbeat. Our rainbow was born 05/22/13 and was worth all we went through.

  • Question:

I'm way overweight however, I lost 25 lbs in the beginning and only gained five back so far... Not my question just a side note lol

Question is have any of your DH been able to feel LO? I feel him all the time, but was wondering if itd take longer than normal to feel him on the outside?

    TIA

  • I have an anterior placenta, and I still haven't felt the baby. I'm thinking a few extra inches of belly fat aren't helping.

Oh, and I agree about showing off the belly. I don't care if my shirts are snug now! Freedom!!!

  • I totally agree with all of those points.
It has been weird to try to train my brain that gaining weight is okay. For now, I'm still under my starting weight, but I know the gain will happen eventually. It's still hard to wrap my head around.

Oh, and being a 3x I can really only shop at MM, and their quality is terrible. So that sucks.

Being able to show off my belly with pride? Oh hellz yes.

  • I am just under plus size. (I wear a 16). I too feel like you ladies are feeling. No one really knows I'm pregnant. I have to tell them. Also, I haven't been able to feel the baby on the outside yet. And yes, I am very envious of all the cute bumps! I was in a yoga class with a woman who was 17 weeks and her bump was way bigger than mine and she looked so cute.
