Iud-paragard

Has anyone ever used this?

Re: Iud-paragard

  • I had a Mirena first, but was not appreciating the side effects so I had it switched out 3 months ago for ParaGard.  I am very happy with it.  My first 2 cycles were heavy, but not horrible and this month it was much lighter and shorter (my period before hormonal birth control and child birth was never painful or heavy).  I am enjoying being hormone free.  I feel better, I am sleeping better and my sex drive is way better. I also am pretty sure we are done having children, but not ready to make a permanent decision, but I am done with hormones.

  • I had Mirena and 100% HATED it. My BFF had Paraguard and she 100% loved it. Once this baby is born I'll be getting the Paraguard.

  • I'm pregnant with a para gaurd right now.
  • I had the paragard for 5 years. It worked very well for me, but I had heavier and longer periods not to mention I had awful cramps. I got my tubes tied after DD so I don't use anything now.

  • I haven't used it. I was considering it, but my OB said it is known to cause heavier, longer, and more painful periods. Mine are bad enough as it is!

  • I'm getting the paraguard in 2 weeks. It was important to me to get the hormone free one. I've had a few friends that got it and had wonderful experiences.
  • I have had Mirena for almost a year.

I love not having a period at all, and the side effects are minimal for me. I like not having to think about anything.

I will say, my sex drive is pretty non existant, but I am still breasfeeding and my son just started STTN, so I think that has to do with it.

  • I had the Paraguard from 2008 to 2010. It gave me horrible cramps during my period, but as long as I took Midol it was manageable. This was my only choice because all types of hormonal birth control make me really sick. So cramps for a few days a month was a much smaller problem for me. I had the Paraguard removed and I was pregnant at my next ovulation. So it worked out well for me :)
