Re: Need advice

  • I agree with PP that meals are the perfect gift!  Only one friend actually did that for me, and it was so appreciated!  I didn't feel comfortable venturing out to the grocery store for at least 2-3 weeks after my son came home, so having a home cooked meal brought to us was a lifesaver!!

  • The other ladies nailed it. I really appreciated meals and also groceries that were easy MILK, peanut butter, fresh fruit, etc. trips to the store were/are impossible. Done babies coming out of the nicu have different immunity concerns so the baby may not be able to get out of the house/visitors may not be welcome in.

  • You could also do giftcards to places that deliver or do carryout.  They may be getting meals from others and the giftcards are nice for when the meals run out.

  • For me having someone to go with to all dds follow ups was really helpful, she was on a monitor and would have some pretty bad episodes with reflux causing her to stop breathing, fortunately never had them in the car, but having someone with me to check on her while I drove eased my nerves a lot. Like pp said though, follow their cues and desires what their lo needs may be drastically different from others.
