I posted on FB a vent that listed things that were going wrong on a
particular day. The list of mostly random things like my transmission
slipping, dropping a cup of water on the floor, and running late to
work included "milk supply tanking." I got a kick out of people
responding out of discomfort that I shared such a thing. It is really
sad how we can be bombarded with boobs in so many aspects of our life
(i.e. advertising, television shows, etc) and no one bats an eye, but as
soon as you reference them as a food source people are uncomfortable.
Re: xp from breastfeeding board
So many people at my new job are weirded out that I pump at work. I work with 16 women and 1 man. The first day I went into the office next to the lunch room to pump, they stopped and asked me what I was doing because it's never used and I explained (because I don't care what so ever). They all either looked horrified or embarassed for me except for the one guy, a woman who has a child and my supervisor who told me to pump in there.
I explained that my daughter is still less than 8 months so I'd be doing it daily but to feel free to ask whatever, because I'm not uncomfortable about it. What I really wanted to say was "sorry I'm offending you by using my breasts to pump milk for my child to eat while in a private room instead of displaying them inappropriatly on a daily basis like the front desk attendant". I just figure people are living pretty enriched lives if how I use my breasts is the only thing they have to get offended over.
People were just telling it was too much information and why would I post about that.
Luckily, I've had no real issues at work. I have a lockable office that I share. The woman that is my officemate knows I pump during certain times. I told her from the beginning that I have no problem if she has to come into the office while I'm pumping as long as she's comfortable with it. I'm discrete and it doesn't bother her one bit. I also have no qualms telling anyone who asks if I want to go out to lunch that I can't because I have to pump. No one bats an eye.
Is your supply rebounding?? I'm sorry I know not pumping enough can be very stressful and sad.
It has slightly. I think my hormones were kickin in (no period yet but I'm sure I'm getting hormone changes) and I had some really stressful days at work where I couldn't pump my normal times the past two weeks.
Well I hope next week is better for you, I know my supply drops before Af returns, it did a few times before it came back too. Don't forget lots of water too, it's easy to forget when your stressed!
