October 2011 Moms

Would you wake her?

Lily's been asleep for nearly 4 hours.  Her naps have been longer lately, since she's dropped to just the one.  But by longer I mean 2 hours, occasionally 2.5.  I've heard her stir a couple of times in the last hour, but she's still asleep.  We don't have a video monitor and if I go in her room to check on her, she'll definitely wake up.  I just don't want to wake her if she's needing the sleep, y'know?  WWYD?

(Yes, I know this is ridiculous and I should just be enjoying the fact that I've got peace and quiet and a sleeping child.  Feel free to call me a fool.)

ETA: Thanks for the feedback, ladies.  She's finally up after a 4.5 hour nap, and it must have done her good 'cause she woke up giggling and happy.

Re: Would you wake her?

  • I'd let her sleep. If it gets too late I'd wake her, but my kids have occasionally been known to nap that long (on rare occasion with my DS). They sometimes need the sleep.

  • I wouldn't. She's probably sleeping longer than usual because she needs it. She'll let you know when shes ready to get up. Go put your feet up and enjoy!
  • Thanks, ladies.  I just needed some reinforcement.  I know she's fine, and that she's probably sleeping longer because she's (finally!) cutting 4 top teeth.  But ever since I unknowingly let her sleep in her own puke at the beginning of the month, I'm a little bit paranoid.

  • Violet goes down at noon and sleeps to 4 everyday.   She doesn't go to bed until 10-11pm and wakes up around 8-9AM.

    I'd let her sleep.

Holy crap! I wouldn't know what to do with 4 hours of nap time! I'm jealous. DS has 1 nap a day that lasts 1 hour.

  • Never wake a sleeping baby.  C gave me a 4 hour nap the other day after he was through with his Colic.  It was beautiful.  Although, I kept on checking the monitors just to be safe.

It makes up for my other two who never napped!

  • We have only woken Gator from a nap like four times in her life...each time, she woke up and was crazy/whiny the rest of the day. It was awful. We now never wake her up.

  • Yeah, unless we have to go anywhere urgently, we never wake any baby in this house. We are happy and grateful if they sleep.
Seriously though, enjoy it while it lasts.
