XP MTHFR

Hi,

I am 5 dpiui and just found yesterday I have the MTHFR mutation.  Does anyone have experience with this?  Before we cycled I was told the results of my RPL were good but it turns out this test just came back.  My office is usually so good.  In fact one of my nurses called me twice last night because she felt so bad.

Anyway, I have started on extra frolic acid but am concerned that if I do happen to be pregnant that something will be wrong with the baby.  I need to stay off of dr google but it looks like this can be linked to downs, spina bifida, etc.

Anyone have any experience?

My baby was fine with taking folic acid throughout the whole pregnancy.  GL!

thanks. Did you take a prescription folic acid or anything special?  I've read that people with mthfr can't break down synthetic frolic acid and might need a special prenatal like Neevo?  I'm just taking my generic prenatal and prescription frolic acid right now

  • Damn autocorrect.  I know it's folic and not frolic

  • I have mthfr and have two bebes that are happy and healthy.  I took a baby aspirin, a rx prenatal and folgard (folic acid and b vitamins).  I was on lovenox, but new recommendations came out when I was pregnant with my second that lovenox is not necessary when pregnant.

When I'm not pregnant, I take a baby aspirin daily and have my homocystine levels checked once a year by a hematologist.

And try not to worry! I was 8 weeks pregnant with my first when I found out I had it and she's fine!
