What time does your child go to bed? DD is almost 3 and I've always heard that tots need an early bedtime. But no matter what time I put her to bed she almost always gets up in the middle of the night and takes forever to go back to sleep. I'm at my wits end especially now that I have a newborn to get up with. Help me please!
Re: Let's talk bedtimes.
We usually start to put our 2 1/3 yr DD down at 8 ish. Some nights it takes 20 min for her to fall asleep, other nights (like last night) it was an hour and half!! Then again its a gamble of wether or not she'll get up during the night. No ryme or reason to it. I'm 6 months preggo so I am hoping it stops soon but never know. Good luck.
I would love to hear some suggestions from other parents on this as well!!
DS1 (almost 3) was going to bed at 7:30 but we have found that was too early so now it's 8/8:30. He usually doesn't fall asleep though for 30-60 minutes depending on the night. For awhile he'd 'escape' his room but he seems over that, now he just calls out for me so I go up there a few times before he finally falls asleep.
He then gets up anywhere from 5-6am these days which is frustrating since he used to sleep until at least 7 on the weekends or 6:30 during the week when I would wake him. I have a 3mo that I'm up with during the night so I get your fears about what is to come. What makes it worse lately is that the wind has been really loud during the night so it's waking him up so not only am I up with the baby but also him. I literally have only been getting a couple of hours of sleep at a time (oh, did I mention that DH travels M-F so it's all on me?)
I don't have any advice unfortunately, I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone... hopefully for us both this phase will soon pass... GL!
Since moving to a big bed, my toddler takes forever to get to sleep and is up in the night. I have asked the sitter to limit his nap to 2 hours. He is usually awake for 6 hours before his nap. Then about 6-7 hours after his nap. I try to get him to sleep by 9...He no longer sleeps though the night anymore either!? UGH!

Sometime between 7:30 and 8:00. I would love for it to be closer to DD's bedtime of 6:30-7:00, but no luck so far.
In bed at 9 though he doesn't usually fall asleep right away.

btw 8-9- she will usually initiate it- and we also co-sleep so, we read a few stories in bed until I see she is really starting to fade then she just falls asleep right next to me. she is 27 months
Lately if she has any nap at all we need to put her down at 7:30/8 or she just plays or yells for us til 8.
Sadly I think naps are starting to phase out for her. I do find she sleeps longer overnight if she doesn't have a nap....
DD1 is in bed at 8:30pm and gets woken up for school at 7:30am. She generally needs 10.5-11.5 hours of sleep.
DD2 falls asleep around 9pm and gets up at 7am. She naps for 2 hours most days. She wakes somewhere between midnight-1am, comes into bed with us, and sleeps there the rest of the night. She sleeps fine in our bed as long as she's touching me at all times.

DD will be 3 in April.
We got by her cues for bedtime. Usually around 6:30/6:45 she starts to get ready to wind down and we start her bedtime routine. She's usually down and out sometime between 7 and 8, depending on the night.
She rarely STTN and usually comes into our bed around 2.
She usually gets up around 7.
She naps usually for no more than an hour and a half in the early afternoon. Sometimes she'll stretch it to 2 hours.

This is for all the caterpillars that never became butterflies. And for all the butterflies that never felt the wind in their wings. And for all the hearts that had hopes and dreams of a wondrous flight together.
My 2 year old is in bed by 7 most nights. I wake her u[ on weekdays at 7; she sleeps on weekends until 8:30.
My 4 year old goes to bed at 7:30 but she doesn't go to sleep a lot of nights until 8:30-9. She's up around 7-7:30 usually.
