I have twin boys that turned 2 on 1/4 as well as a 15 week old son. Recently my oldest son has begun playing with and eating his poop. This happens either in the morning before I get him up or at nap time. There was a point where both him and his brother were taking off their diapers when in their cribs so we began duct tapping them on which has helped. My husband and I have read that we should give our son cold showers after he has played/eaten his poop instead of a warm bath. Our pediatrician recommend dressing him in layers including a onesee. However no matter how many layers we put him in he still strips down and will take his arms out of the sleeves and remove his clothes that way too. My son has played with his poop three times in a row this week and I am at a loss on what else I can do to help stop or correct this behavior. I would greatly appreciate anyone's suggestions if you've gone through something similar.
Re: 2 y/o playing/eating poop
Ugh, sorry that stinks! My DS had one big 'pooptastrophe' as I call it which involved a dirty diaper at naptime, the carpet, door & walls (he was 3 yrs old & out of a crib)... but not a habitual thing. I assuming you've tried the foot pjs turned backwards also, I think that is popular... Mittens?
2 is tough b/c they're just starting to understand consequences but still pretty young... I would definitely have a consequence for this if it is becoming a regular occurence... a time out doesnt really make sense but does he have special or favorite toy that you can take away, esp one that is in his room so he sees the connection immediately when you come in & see the poop & then the toy goes away?
Good luck, that is a tough one
