Is this a girl or boy name to you? I've seen it on both boys and girls but I was wondering what the consensus is on it. I would consider it for a boy. Thanks!
I grew up with a girl named Finlay and an acquaintance just named their baby girl Finlay. So, for me, it's a girl name. I like it for a girl. I do not like it for a boy.
I don't know it's origin and I don't know any Finley's, but I say girl. It sounds like the trend Finley, Kinley, Brynley.
It is a very popular Irish male name used exclusively on boys in Ireland/UK. It would be like naming a girl Jason or Eric or something.
This is completely correct, and it is 100% boy. I hate it on girls. And for everyone that says Finlay/ey sounds feminine what about Billy? Willy? Wesley? There are many boy names that end in the -ley sound.

Re: Finley
My first thought is boy but I can see both using it.
I prefer Finn, Phineas, or Finnian on a boy.
I'm thinking that it's unisex. I probably wouldn't use it on a boy because it sounds a bit feminine.

Get ready to side-eye, because it's on my list for girls.
I like it for a girl. Maybe because the first one I ever met was a cute, blonde 3 year old named Finley.
I've since heard it on a boy (although I think it was with 2 ns..."Finnley"). I don't like it as much.
