15wks and suddenly fussy/won't nap

Mobile: 15wks and suddenly fussy/won't nap

Anyone else experiencing this? Lo just turned 15 wks and for the past 2-3 days he has been having A LOT of trouble napping during the day. He used to have 3 naps that were 1.5-2.5 hours long; now, I'm lucky if I get a half hour. He is obviously overtired, and it's causing him to be fussier during the day. Is this the beginning of the 4 month wakeful period (so far it only seems to be affecting his naps)? Or does a growth spurt happen around now?

Either way, any advice to help him nap? He won't nap for long in the swing, and we use a paci, although he's been refusing it today/yesterday. I even put him in the moby today, which usually puts him right to sleep, and it didn't do anything. I feel so bad that he's so tired and cranky. :(

Re: 15wks and suddenly fussy/won't nap

  • Right here! LO is actually napping on my boob right now. He simply will not nap any other way. It seems if i get him to sleep, if the slightest thing disturbs him, hes up. Like if he falls asleep in the car, and then we move him inside, hes up... or if he falls asleep in my arms, he wont make the transfer to rnp...

So cuddle and boob time it is...for now. He needs sleep!

  • I've had to sit with her in a pretty tight sidewise hold, while stroking her face eyelids if they look droopy to force a nap... I also can't put her down during it or it will end within five minutes. She finally took a decent 1.5 hour nap for my dh today do fingers crossed she's moving out of this phase....

  • Right there with you!!!!!  My little guy will be 19 weeks next Tuesday.  It all started about 15 weeks for him too.  It's been miserable!  He used to take a bottle and go down in the swing for 1-2 hours.  No problems...fell asleep on his own.  NOW....he screams when I put him in the swing which results in me eventually picking him up and rocking him to sleep after a lot of singing/humming/rubbing head.  It's horrible.  I mean, I love cuddling with him, but not when he's screaming and wiggling and kicking.  I want my old sweetie back!  I hope this passes soon.  I'm ready for the next phase.  I don't have advice except rock LO to sleep...and hold him really tight.  That's all that works for me.  OR I occasionally use the vacuum ...... turn it on and sometimes he falls asleep.

yes, but she's more fussy at night instead.  I don't know if i fully believe in the "4 month wakeful" stuff other than it just being another growth spurt.

I totally agree with this.  It seems like a growth spurt to us.
