MIL has been pushing Humphrey's teething tablets on me. She won't let up, & I'm not sure I want to give them to DD. She's already bought me 2 boxes & keeps insisting I need to give them to her. I get the whole "we gave them to our kids & they turned out fine" and "they're natural & homeopathic", etc. I know a lot of nesties use Hyland's - I think they're similar. But I'm looking up stuff about Belladonna & I don't like what I see. It's an herbal barbituate (reason #1 I'm not sure I want to give it to DD) and the NIH says it can cause death in infants even in very small amounts (reason #2). I have also read that homeopathic drugs are not well regulated & you don't always get the same amount of each ingredient in every bottle, so you never really know how much is in each pellet. Also, DD has a milk allergy so I won't even consider giving them to her until after I call the company & make sure there are no milk products in them. Reason #3 to not give them to her is that MIL is annoying & she needs to MYOB :-p My dad goes to a certified homeopathic dr. so I asked them to ask him, and we are also going to ask pedi first & call the company about the milk thing. DD is definitely starting to teethe, but hasn't cut a tooth yet so this could go on for months before we see a tooth, or it could be tomorrow. She's definitely getting more miserable by the day, though.
Does anyone use these on DC? Do you have any concerns about the Belladonna?
Re: Humphreys: safe or not?
I wouldn't and do not use them.
