I am on my second cycle of femara and i am very disappointed. First cycle we had to cancel my iui because I didnt get any follicles over 12. this time i had a 15.8 2 days ago and today it was 16.4. My doctor is so sweet and was like "dont worry femara sometimes makes them grow slower than clomid". clomid i always had a great response but terrible lining. My lining still isnt great. She said next time i will probably do injections but we are still hopeful at my appointment on sunday i will have growth, can trigger, and iui on monday.
Anyone else have a frustrating time on femara? I just keep getting excited and let down again. Going back to clomid isnt the best option for me but if i have to cancel another iui I am going to be really sad
I would love to hear other peoples experiences.

Re: Femara users (also posted in ttcal)
But my experience is that my lead folly grew slowly at first and then just exploded it went from 15.8 to 20 to 25 over 4 days. We triggered at 20 and it was at 25 for my iui.
Good luck with your cycle. It may just need some more time to get going... That said my RE is now recommending injectables over another femara cycle

For my first IUI I took only femara and had poor response. That cycle was actually cancelled. So my RE then put me on Follistim for IUI #1.2 & IUI #2. I responded well and had 3 mature follicles. DH does have MFI and his #'s weren't great. Those IUIs weren't successful. For our last and what would have been final IUI before moving on to IVF, I asked if we could do a medicine cocktail of femara and follistim (seen that someone from 3T had plus I had just enough follistim to do so without having to buy more for another follistim only cycle). So she put me femara for cycle days 3-7 and follistim for cycle days 7-9. It resulted in 1 follicle and it was the largest one out of the 3 cycles. I am not sure if it is what helped since DH did have better results too but I just wanted to share in case it might help you!
First RE appointment 4/2011
MFI = Low count + low T = Varicocele surgery 2007 + Clomid 2011
FFI = Ovarian dysfunction + Abnormal shaped uterus 2011
IUI#1 & 2= bfn
Lap + Hysterscopy = all clear
Last IUI 6/30/12... Femara + Follistim + Pregnyl + Progestrone supp. = BFP
Beta #1= 58.8 Beta #2 = 1,489.6 Beta #3 = 13,112.3 Beta #4 = 62,727.7 ... No more betas
2nd u/s = baby & heartbeat @ 6 wks 3 ds
It's a girl!
Let's see... so now I'm 2 cycles Clomid, 2 cycles Femara. I prefer Femara, though it's not any more successful than Clomid for me.
I have heard of people doing 5 cycles of Femara +IUI and the last was successful. Not to say it always happens, but it's possible. Do what you are comfortable with.

I had only one mature follicle at 26 when I triggered for our successful IUI. The other IUIs they were between 17 & 20. So you never know!
