I'm not sure I am playing enough with my baby girl. She is just about 5 weeks so she still is pretty limited but she is very curious and loves to stare. I find she cries pretty easily when she is awake and I'm thinking if I had better ideas to stimulate her, it might help and/or help keep her awake during the day instead of the night.
So far, I have been using her floor gym, a Lamaze Peacock toy, and the Sassy photo book which has a few pictures of her family and other black/white designs. I also have a few rattles which she will look at if I shake in front of her.
Do you have any other toys that you are using? Any other suggestions?
Re: What Toys are you playing with?
I haven't started toys yet! I should probably get on that...
We read books every few days and we've put her on her play mat a few times, but both have been more for our entertainment than hers. She seems most content making faces with DH and I or staring at some random spot on the wall.
We have a small doll from Carters that rattles she will look at it and babble to it, its super cute to watch.DH bought this silly panda thing that is auto-matronic (sp) and sings I got you babe, she loves that.
So glad to read this thread! I am always wondering if we are playing enough, but it sounds like we are all on the same track.
We use the playmat, tummy time, look at fans, rattles, a musical toy with lights, a little frog toy that vibrates when you pull on him. Also, she loves to look at faces and a very stripy painting on the wall.
I haven't tried reading yet though. I want to start that soon, since we have a few high contrast illustrations books that we got.
she has a flower that lights up that she will stare at for a little while. nothing else seems to interest her. we have a lamp in the living room that she stares at and if it is off she will cry until we turn it on. she likes staring at me and DH and sticking her tongue out. her favorite is when i spin around with her. thats the only time she coos and smiles at me.
We use the activity mat and we have a mat for tummy time that has some toys on the end of it. She has this butterfly that lights up, plays music, and projects stars onto the ceiling that she really likes to stare at. She also will stare at her mobile for awhile as it spins, lights ups, and plays music. She really does not like the rattle yet. She just started noticing the toy that dangles from the car seat handle that makes a noise like a bell.
I also talk, sing, and make different noises. She also imitates me when I stick my tongue. We haven't tried reading yet but that is on my list I just keep forgetting. Other then that she still likes to look around the house especially at lights and ceiling fans. She enjoys staring at the TV and iPhone/iPad screens because of the light.
