New Year's Resolutions

This is about the time that most of us forget all about our resolutions. How about a little check in?

1. What were your resolutions this year?

2. Have you been successful so far?

3. What's holding you back?

4. What's helping you be successful?

5. What action are you going to take to move forward?

This is about the time that most of us forget all about our resolutions. How about a little check in?

    1. What were your resolutions this year? As, always, I want to save more money. I'd like to have $20,000 in our house fund (currently about $14,000) by the end of 2013. There are a few small things I'm saving for, too.

    2. Have you been successful so far? Somewhat. At least I have a plan.

    3. What's holding you back? It's awfully hard to have a winter social life in Chicago without spending money.

    4. What's helping you be successful? I brought my coffee to work each day in January instead of stopping at Starbucks. That's saved about $60. I've created an ING savings account for each one of my small goals. So I can see little successes add up.

    5. What action are you going to take to move forward? I just got notification of my raise for the year. I've budgeted it all out and it looks like I'll be able to reach $20,000. I've added a little to my "fun" budget, too, so that I don't feel like I'm being punished by saving.

  • 1. What were your resolutions this year? I have a few, I guess. I was already on the workout track before New Year's, so I've just continued that routine.  DH and I are working on getting our finances in a better place.  I wish to start a garden as soon as the weather allows it.

    2. Have you been successful so far? So far we're going forward.  I started meal planning, and all meals made so far have been delish.

    3. What's holding you back? I can't garden until it's not winter.  I'm so over this season.

    4. What's helping you be successful? Honestly, I've had great encouragement on our board.

    5. What action are you going to take to move forward? Research the crap out of organizating finances and what would work best for planting at my novice skill level.

    1. What were your resolutions this year? I didn't have any resolutions really but I had general goals to spend more time with my boys doing fun things, reduce my anxiety, take my Vit D every day, and have more patience with DH.

    2. Have you been successful so far? I have been doing pretty good except I still need work on being patient with DH and with DH being gone 3 nights a week it has kind of cut into the "spend more time with my boys".

    3. What's holding you back? I am under a lot of stress plus I get fatigues or I am in pain a lot so my patience level is really low. Unfortunately, I tend to take it out on DH because I am exhausted and through with my day by the time I get home. I have been doing much better with this but still need to work on  this.

    4. What's helping you be successful? Taking deep breaths and relaxing before I enter my home at night so that I am more relaxed and prepared for whatever chaos comes my way.

    5. What action are you going to take to move forward? I will just keep working on things. When DH is finished with his appointments we will start spending more family time together again and will do more fun activities.

  • 1: I'm going to be better about flossing!
    - So far, so good!  I've been flossing every morning and every evening.  I've just made it part of my routine.

2: Start back with waking up early so I can get a run in each day and in order to do so:

    - I've done this every day since January, except for yesterday obviously, and when I was really sick.  Otherwise I've been good about it!  I think it helps that I like the way it makes me feel and I feel guilty that DH has taken over the dog duties since LBB's been born, so this gets me back into my morning dog duties.

    3: Reimplementing my 9:30 bedtime.

    - I've been surprisingly good at this one (during the week).

4: Start carrying my water bottle around again so I can be better with drinking water when I'm not at work.

    - I've been a total failure at this one.  I left my water bottle in the car one day and just never brought it in and refilled it.

5: Eat cleaner during the week. No drinking and snacking only fruits and veggies.

    - I'm doing really well with this one too.  I haven't been drinking during the week, and packing really healthy snacks.  Except most of the time I don't get a chance to eat them, so LBB has them when he gets home from daycare.

  • I never make resolutions but I do have ongoing goals

We are trying to re-implement family night.

Since the move things got wonky and we have been really bad about our Tuesday night family night.  So far we have had 3 successful family nights , we went to the science museum, we put together Legos, and we played games.

I have been trying to keep up on laundry

This means I need to do 2-3 loads a day.   What is ahrd is that Violet destroys all my nice folded clothes so I have to do this at nap time.  I'm sorry but I'm not wasting nap time laundry.

We have been trying to get a cleaning schedule nailed down.

I have been really good about keeping the living room, dining room, kitchen, family room, and kids' rooms clean and picked up daily.  I suck at the office, entry and bathrooms.
