Baseline appt

I had my baseline appointment yesterday morning. My right ovary looks great, but apparently my left side isn't as strong. She said I only have 2-3 follicles on my left side, so we will be relying on my right side to get as many eggs as possible. She said it could be due to having my endo removed from the left side last year, but who knows.

I'm assuming my blood work was okay because I haven't heard anything else from them. She said that if I didn't hear anything from her yesterday, then we are good to go on stims starting on Monday morning. We met with the pharmacist last night to pick up our Menopur & Follistim. I go back next Wednesday for a monitoring appt, so I'm curious to see how my left side reacts to the stims.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone else have 1 side that doesn't functions as well as the other?

    I just had my ER yesterday. My right ovary was always behind but I eneded up getting 12 eggs total so it wasn't an issue.

    Good luck to you!

    All the time. My right side has always been more productive/dominate than the left side..... Even with unmedicated cycles. That being said, in my first IVF cycle my left did respond to stims and had just a couple fewer follies than the right, so hopefully that side will wake up for you after a couple days of stims.

    My left side is lazy too! I used to ovulate on my left side about 75% of the time, then for the last 2 years, I've ovulated on my right every time except for once. We haven't done IVF yet, but even on an injects cycle, I only got one follicle on my left side, and it wasn't "measurable". It also likes to hide up above my bellybutton too. Apparently it's ashamed of it's underproductivity.

    Not on a consistent basis....but it always seems like one is lazier than the other. The hardworking one tends to make up the difference. Hope all goes well for you!

    How funny, I was just discussing this with the hubby.  During my IUI's it seemed my left ovary lagged behind sometimes.  Well when I went in for baseline yesterday, my right has 8 and my left has 4 (I start stims tomorrow).  My RE doesn't place too much importance on AFC but I thought it was still interesting that my left is still slower, 3 years later!

    Here's to both of our left ovaries taking some muscle milk and bulking up with follicles! :)

    Me (37) DH (39); PCOS changed to Unexplained, changed to DOR in 2012 (finally a correct diagnosis!);
    Started TTC 2009 with RE after 6 months.
    Clomid + Trigger x2;
    IUI + Femara x1,
    IUI + Follistim x2;
    IVF #1 (MDL) February 2013- BFN.
    IVF #2 (antagonist) May 2013, First BFP of my life.
    Identical twin miracle BOYS (!!) headed our way- due date is technically 2/4/14 but c section is scheduled for 1/7!

    I had my left ovary removed a couple years ago so I'm relying on my right ovary only.  I had my baseline appt on Monday for our first IVF cycle, and she said I have 7 follicles.  I hope that is enough!
