So apparently I never had the Cystic Fibrosis test until Day 3 of this cycle, the one where we did the IUI. i got a call today that I'm a carrier. Apparently if DH is a carrier, then our child has 25% chance of having CF. If DH is not a carrier, there is almost no chance of a child having it (reading conflicting things on this). He is going for the blood test today but they don't get the results for TEN DAYS. And in the meantime I cold find out I'm pregnant....Anyone else a carrier????
Re: CF test - Freaking out
I am not a carrier, but a close friends DH is. She isn't but they are having to do IVF bc when males are the carriers there are MFI issues. Which is why they haven't been able to get pg. has your DH had his stuff tested, if he has sperm I would think he probably isn't a carrier....from the little I know about this.
hoping for the best for y'all.

I found out the end of my only pregnancy that I am a carrier too. We chose not to have DH tested till we were ready to ttc #2. We were offered 2 different tests, one that tests the most common mutations includeing the one i have, and one that tests for all known mutations. We chose to run the common one only because that was the only one our insurance would cover. His obviously came back fine.
As for DS, his newborn screen came back normal. So, we've decided to tell him all about it when he's older and let him decide when he wants to be tested. Our hope is that this information will make him more cautious when it comes to sex as a teen.
Good luck! I know I was freaking out at this point too.
