another STTN ?

Sleeping for 6 hours certainly cant be considered sleeping through the night...can it?  DS sleeps from 8pm to 3 am, and then is up every hour or so thereafter.  This hardly seems like sleeping through the night!  Just sayin...

I guess its still better than DS1, who was up every 2 to 3 hours religiously until his first birthday.

Re: another STTN ?

  • At this age sleeping more than 5 consecutive hours is considered STTN. I wish my kid would sleep more than 3, but she wakes up at 3 hours on the dot still.

  • I consider 8-3 a very successful night!  I could not imagine getting up every couple hours until he is 1!

  • I agree that's amazing. I chose 8 hrs for the poll since this is what people seem to be stated their lo's sleep. I'm lucky to get one 5 hr stretch a night. Between 2 babies we are usually up with one of them every other hour. We do wake up one when doing feedings twice a night.

  • I might have the exact numbers wrong but I think Ferber believes 4 month olds should generally be able to sleep a 5-6 hour stretch, 5 month olds a 7-8 hour stretch, and 6 month olds should be able to STTN. Fingers crossed!

  • Im totally not bragging here for the record. Ds1 stays up until 10, and i have horrid insomnia in which i awake around 1 am. And im usually still awake when ds2 gets up for his motn feeding, and then he gets up every 1 to 2 hours after.

And it always seems that just as i get back asleep, ds1 wakes up!

Just wanted to clear up that this is not a bragplain but more curiosity

If 5 to 6 hours is considered sttn for this age, at what age is the 7 to 7 considered sttn?

  • Medically speaking, at our LO's age, 6 hours is considered STTN.  At least according to Alice's pedi.
