I also posted on the TTC after a Loss board. Wanted to introduce myself. DH and I have been married for 4.5 years now and have been TTC since this past July. Unfortunately, I m/c on October 19th (the baby wasn't developing) and haven't been able to get pregnant again since. I'm starting to worry that something else might be wrong. My cycles have been irregular since (I was 13 days late last month), my mood swings have been incredible, I spot before every period, and I've had acne that has not cleared up. I'm concerned that it could be hormonal.
My question for everyone - when did you know that you should seek additional help? We didn't technically start trying until July 2012, but I've been off of my BC since last March and we weren't exactly preventing. Emotionally, I feel like I'm at a crossroads.

Most of us begin seeking additional help after about a year of TTC (or 6 months if youre over 35). I actually don't know if it changes anything if you've had a loss.
Just wanted to say good luck!
This, so sorry for your loss!

"Infertility" is generally considered to be trying with no success for a year if you are under 35, and after 6 months if you are 35 or older. If it has been less than a year but you've had multiple losses, or you have another known issue, then you're okay to seek a specialist's help.
However, if you really feel there is something wrong, you can see a specialist whenever you want. For example, I saw (what I thought was) a specialist after my first loss b/c my cycles were really short and my luteal phase was 8 or 9 days - I knew something was wrong that would impact TTC beyond "normal issues".
Check with your insurance too - I've heard some specifically lay out guidelines for when you can seek help if it covers IF. If it doesn't say anything, or if it doesn't cover IF, then I don't think it matters.
Married since 2008 | TTC #1 since 2011
2 losses: Nov '11 and Aug '12 Dx: Feb '13 - HSG shows clear tubes but minor diverticulitis; Borderline DOR; Low DHEA and low testosterone. Moving on to IUI or IVF.
3.4.13: Holy crap! Surprise natural BFP on cycle #19. EDD 11.12.13 We've got a peen.....it's a boy! Little man born 11.17.2013 via c-section
Thanks ladies! Everything I've read has said a year... but wanted to see if anyone else has been concerned sooner. Having a loss really speeds things up emotionally. I went from having a casual attitude at first to having it be the only thing on my mind after the loss!
Svenny, if you don't mind me asking, did yours end up being progesterone related?

I am very sorry for your loss, but this is not the board for you and TTCAL would be a better fit at this point.
You TTC from July, got KU at the end of September-ish, and had a m/c in the middle of October. Two or three cycles is a normal timeframe for conception. You've also only been TTC since your loss for a max of 3 cycles IF you started TTC immediately after your loss. Also, cycles are almost always weird for a few months after a loss. I would highly recommend you chart your BBT and visit TTCAL. Good luck to you.
Six years of infertility and loss, four IUIs, one IVF and one very awesome little boy born via med-free birth 10.24.13.
Thank you for your reply. I wasn't sure what board was best, but thought I would reach out. I appreciate your feedback and wish you the best of luck as well.
