Is there anything they will ask or tell me or anything I should know to ask at the a/s? I never had one and I don't know any one personally that has had issues and had one. I really have no clue what to expect. I just want to be prepared.

Cervical length for sure! Whenever I see my OB and the u/s machine comes out I request a cervical check. Just because they feel like I'm fine, doesn't tell my brain everything is fine. I need to see it and know it. I've yet to be turned down for a cervical check and now they do them at every appointment.

I would want to know where the placenta is located. Also, it may seem basic, but I'd want to know Baby has all chambers of the heart and that they're functioning as they should.

Agree with everything that's been said so far. I'll also add, the first thing I asked my technician when I went for my a/s was whether she would tell me what she was looking at and how things looked as she went. I had read far too many stories on TB about disappointing scans where the tech kept silent the whole time and wouldn't even say whether everything looked okay, and then the patient had to wait for a follow up call from her doctor. I know this all depends on the policies of the u/s lab, so I wanted to know right off the bat whether she would be talking me through it.
Thankfully, my tech was allowed to, and was happy to share everything she was seeing. At one point, she even asked if she was giving me too much information, and I told her no such thing. But if the lab's policy had been that she wasn't allowed to share, I would have wanted to know that right off the bat too, so I wouldn't interpret her silence as something being wrong.
So yeah, I would ask how much they're allowed to tell you, and tell them you want to know everything they're allowed to tell you (assuming you do!)

Thank you ladies!!! I would have never thought of the cervix check.
Bananers! Thank you so much for that! I would have never thought to ask that in the beginning and I would prefer to know before hand if she will go over things with me. I am like you I probably would assume something was wrong if I don't ask in advance. Thank you sooooo much!!

You're welcome! I think it also helped that one of the first questions she asked me was whether this was our first (I'm sure she was just being polite and making chit chat). I told her this was our second pregnancy but first time we'd made it this far. She was very sympathetic and told us how sorry she was, so I think she may have understood our need to know everything was okay.

THIS!! So many of my friends warned me that the tech may not tell me much so I made sure from the beginning to ask lots of questions and with every measurement she took, I asked " does everything look ok", "does our baby look healthy", probably like twenty times. I also made sure to spill my ttc loss history so she took extra time with me knowing our journey and I even got to meet with a specialist afer the ultrasound for an extra question and answer period. They totally didnt need to offer that to us knowing our baby looked healthy, but they knew I was a PGAL wreck and went over and above to put any of my fears at ease!! Good luck at your scan sweets!!!!

I wanted to know about placenta placement and how my cervix was doing. Other than that, just getting a bill of clean health from the doc later. A lot of techs won't tell you much as the radiologist has to read the u/s images first and then you hear from your OB later.
