Help getting LO to nap without being held

My daughter just turned 8 months on 1/23/2013... Prior to this she would sleep just fine for naps and at night. Here lately she is only falling asleep when I am holding her, then when I lay her in her crib (pretty sure she is out!) she starts crying like no other! If I let her cry it out she will pull herself up in her crib and just cry forever. She will cry for over an hour without a problem. I only go in there if I hear her pacifier hit the floor.

After she cried for an hour and a half I went in, picked her up, and within 2-5 minutes she will be asleep. Any tips to help would be greatly appreciated!

Also if when I pick her up she doesnt seem like she will go back to sleep I will put her on the floor to play and off she goes OR she will just sit there and fuss until i pick her up

Re: Help getting LO to nap without being held

  • My DD wont nap in her crib either. So I either let her nap with me, or she naps in her pack and play in the living room.

  • We have a similar problem getting DD to sleep at night...what has started to work over the last week is for me to place my hand on her chest and stay with her until she falls asleep.
  • We have this problem! I just hold him for now. An overtired baby is no fun!

  • My baby girl is 8.5 months we turn on her musical mobile and also have a sleep sheep that plays white noise. She passes right out to the "rain" setting. There are times occasionally she will wake up and not fall back asleep just be completely beside herself crying but it never lasts long sometime its just a painful gassy tummy bubble or she just needs some extra love.
