Cervix pulled forward/down?

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and have been having contractions since 1 am Monday night. I went in to get checked today and I've thinned out more but no more than 12 cm dilated. My dr said if I was ok he was going to pull my cervix forward and he did. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this done and if its helped speed up labor? Is this the same as a membrane sweep?

  • I googled it and found other forum questions about this. Apparently the cervix presents behind the baby's head and pulling it forward can sometimes help move things along. Your cervix would naturally move into this position during labor, though, so there are some mixed feelings about whether or not it actually helps anything.

  • Thank you! Every time I tried to find something it would send me to membrane sweeping.
