This check-in posted each Tuesday.  If you?d like to be added to this group, please reply to this message, and I?ll make sure to add you for next week.  Welcome to the lurkers!  We know this can be a difficult journey, but we welcome you with open arms.  Let us know if we can answer any questions.

shyntrue ? Donor selected! Surgery to have septum removed, cycle postponed to December, had second SHG and uterus looked good, DE IVF#1 - 3dt of 2 embryos on 12/10, BFP! Beta #1=890, Beta #2=10,967, first u/s on 1/11 showed TWINS! NT scan scheduled for 2/24, two trips to the ER and an overnight hospital stay, extensive u/s showed (most likely) 2 boys! Failed 1-hour glucose test and going back for 3-hour, Boys have arrived!

Girls born early, they are home!  2-week NICU appointment and they are doing great, considering another DE cycle for a sibling, going to be a gestational carrier for another couple! Met the IPs, screenings coming up and hoping for April cycle (FET)

Update: I had really counted myself out after my FET because I just wasn't feeling like I was right after my BFP with our daughter (and got a negative HPT on Saturday), so I was so relieved and surprised to get a faint line on the HPT I took on Sunday (6dp5dt).  My beta's not until Monday, so I'm just holding tight until then.

QOTW: At Shady Grove, you don't usually get your own RE for ET's (at least I haven't for my 3 ET's there).  They are such a big clinic, so that's just the way it seems to be.  No meds (good for me because I've been there alone all three times so had to drive myself back to whichever hotel I was staying at).  They recommend 24 hours of taking it easy after the ET.

JM1977 this is very exciting news!  fingers crossed and hopingfor a great beta reult on Monday.  Congratulations!!

As for me, I had additional bloodwork done to investigate a high TSH result at the time of my baseline U/S.  Turns out everything came back normal so nothing to worry about and no new meds required.  So, I continue on the lupron and estrogen patches until my next u/s on Feb 6.  We have 3 beautiful frosties so if I things are looking good Ithink they will confirm transfer the week of Feb 12!!  

Those giant PIO needles are freaking me out.  I am afraid I am going to turn out to be a big wimp when it's time to start taking them.

But my big worry is how to get the time off without announcing we are in an IVF cycle.  I really don"t want anyone to know until we have success.

 QOTW:  I am not sure how they handle the ET.  Since I am using  sattelite clinic for monitoring I only get the information I need at the moment and am given instructions of what I should be doing now until the next test etc.  (I kind of like it that way - one day at a time)  I think that they give you something to help relax at the time of transfer.  They didn"t mention anything about rest, but I am going to take it easy  that day and the next.

Yay for JM1977 and sending vibes for a strong beta and uneventful pregnancy.  I'm so happy for you and have fingers crossed and good hopes for those cycling.

I went to RBA and they don't guarantee your RE for transfer but mine did do my transfer.  No meds and honestly the transfer seemed like a pretty minor thing given everything else they do to you in the IF world.

i assume we are talking about the way the DE clinic handles transfers? I've been to many places for OE so my ET experience has been different at all places. One place gave me Valium although it isn't necessary for me. The ET is totally no biggie in my mind. No bed rest needed at current place.

Lots of good vibes for JM and Mrs. Mc for their betas!  I love seeing good news.

We are officially matched now and waiting for our donor to fly to our clinic for her work up.  We cleared up everything with the insurance company so we have a teeny tiny bit of coverage left - but, of course, every little bit counts.

 

As for the question - I have no idea how they handle DE but I assume it's the same as OE.  The doctor 'on call' does the transfer - meaning they have a handful of physicians that are 'on' each day of the week and depending on what day your transfer is on, that's the doc you get.  By coincidence, on my last IVF, my doc actually did my transfer.  I didn't take any meds and just had to lay down for about 20 minutes after the transfer but only made it about 15 minutes before I HAD to pee.

Update: we actually accepted a new profile the other day, that I didn't think we were going to accept because I thought my husband wouldn't be crazy about it. After he took a look at it though he said he liked it and was good with it so we're set to go! I had a baseline u/s today, will have my lining check on the 22nd, and if that goes well we''' transfer on 2/28. Yikes! I hope round 2 turns out better...

QOTW: my clinic doesn't really do anything special for the transfer. They tell us to take it easy for 48 hours after transfer, like nothing that will get your heartrate too high, but no bed rest is required. And at my first transfer my actual RE did it.

Hi all!!

update: I've started my estrogen pills. Holy headache, batman!!! I'm not one to usually complain, but I wanted to crawl In a dark hole for a couple days there. It probably didn't help that I started drinking decaf. Our DE retrieval is tentatively scheduled for 2/11 or 2/12. I go in for BW and US next Thursday. I'm so nervous about everything actually working out that I don't think it's actually hit me that this is really happening. My clinic instructed me to call on Monday to ask about how my donor is doing so I'm looking forward to that. 

I also saw a high risk OB for a preconception appt to discuss my colitis and my prior pre term birth of DD. She suggested only transferring one embryo due to risk of multiples, so that's something DH and I have been discussing.

I'm not exactly sure how our clinic handles transfers...they haven't mentioned any relaxers so I wasn't anticipating any. I never really thought about who will do the transfer. I assumed it was my dr. but maybe it's not...I'll be asking on Monday when I check on my donor. There are 3 dr's in the practice and I really like two of them, but had an issue with the other guy so I REALLY hope it's not him!! As far as bed rest goes I think they have you lay down for 30 mins after the ET and then just take it easy for the rest of the day so I'm hoping to come home and just chill-ax for the rest of the day.

Can I be added to this check-in?

I'm still in a little bit of limbo...waiting to conduct some additional tests (to see if there are any undiagnosed immunological issues that may be responsible for my many failures.) 

My last cycle was a fresh DE cycle which resulted in a chemical pregnancy (first beta was 16, but did not increase properly...nothing seen on 6 week ultrasound).  I have four DE "frosties" but I'm nervous to transfer any more, without additional testing to see if I have any undiagnosed issues which might be causing implantation failure.  I'm hoping I can move forward with a FET sometime this Spring.

JM....that is GREAT news!!  We'll be waiting anxiously for your Monday beta updates.

Monday will be testing mania for me....saline sonogram, endometrial biopsy and repeat loss panel.  Glad I can knock these all out in one visit.  In the mean time, I'm trying to gather all of my other necessary records so the doctor will have everything before my consult in a few weeks.  Still need to confirm with insurance what exactly is covered....that's really the most important thing, so I need to get on it!

QOTW: How does your clinic handle embryo transfers? Do you get any relaxing meds? Does your regular doctor do the transfer or someone else? Do they recommend bedrest?
No relaxing meds, though I did elect for acupuncture before and after. My doc would have done the transfer, but he was on vacaction at the time. As I recall, they didn't have a bed rest policy, but I put myself on three days selfimposed.
Update My sons were born on 1/15/13 at 32 and 1/2 weeks. They are incredible babies. Doing well in the nicu.

Thank you so much for the tips about the shots.  I won't be able to do the sgots myself.  I already know that, so I'm going to print your post off and give it to DH.  We have clled and set up an appointment with our clinic to ask someone to show us exactly where to inject.  I'll ask them to draw it on like you suggested.

 

More thanks for the details about what is to come.  We are going to fly in the night before and  I am hoping to stay the next night but DH might have work commitments.  I sure don"t want to rushing to airport.
