Questions to ask new practicioner?

I'm going to see a new CNM this afternoon, I'm changing because a friend recommended her. I'll be delivering at Kaiser Zion (in So Cal) and have been told that my CNM may not actually be there because they have whoever is on shift attend the birth.

I was hoping some of you may able to give me some advice about what questions to ask her to be sure I can have the natural med-free birth I want. I want to ask about the hospital procedures (IVs, monitoring, etc) but don't know what specifically to ask. Any advice?

Write everything down all the questions you have and just ask outright to your nurses as soon as your admitted. It is their job to answer any of your concerns and to make you as comfortable as possible. Let them do the worrying but remember that if they do need to go against your plans in any way itbis for the SAFETY of you and your baby.

What good does asking about hospital policy do after you get to the hospital? I don't think you understood what her point was. Things like continuous monitoring don't improve SAFETY outcomes for moms and babies.
