Heard from BM!

We hadn't heard from DD's BM since just shortly after we brought her home back at the end of September.  I've been pretty bummed about it.  I think about her often and want to know she's doing well.  Over the holidays I debated sending her a gift but after asking several peoples' opinions, it was decided that since we hadn't heard a thing from her in quite a while, I should probably just stay back.  I did send her an e-mail, letting her know that I was thinking about her and wishing her happy holidays.  She didn't reply...until tonight.  She responded letting us know that she's doing good and was just giving us space to enjoy DD.  She said she'd love pictures.

This makes me really happy..just knowing she's doing well and still wants to have contact with us! Originally she said she wanted a semi-open but having not heard anything, I was worried she may be having a harder time with this decision than she let on (she was very business-like about it, not showing a single ounce of emotion).  Sounds like the lack of communication was more her trying to "stay out of our way."

I'm glad she reached out.  I know how important maintaining contact with her is.  I wouldn't be surprised if she was/is having a tough time of it, and just doesn't want to let on to you.  In your shoes, I would just let her know you are open to talking/e-mailing/messaging anytime she wants, and ask her if she would like you to send periodic updates/photos even if you don't hear from her.
