Middle Name Help. Dominica.

Can anyone come up with a middle name for Dominica?  It was my grandmother's name, and I'd love to use it--but I'm about to drop it from consideration because I can't match it up with a middle name for our last name.

My grandmother's middle name was Christina--but she was Italian and had a beautiful last name to match it.  Adding to the difficulty, our last name is Plotkin.

I'd consider completely going without a middle name as well--as Dominica is a real mouthful. BTW, if we wind up using Dominica, we'd call her Minnie.

The best I could do was Dominica Vivienne.  Again, too much, I think.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thx!

  • Loading the player...
  • Is it pronounced Domin-e-ka, or Dom-a-nique-a

  • My name is Domenica and my middle name is Nicole.

You could also go with Nikki as a nickname for Domenica, although I never had a real nickname.  Sometimes I got "doe" or "dee."

    good luck!

  • I agree with PP about going with something one-syllable. Rose, Claire, Anne, Faith, Hope...

  • Thanks so much, everyone!  It's cool to see someone with the same name on here, too. :)

For the person who asked, it's pronounced doe-min-nick-a.  (Like Dominican Republic).

  • I love Domenica (spelled this way). I'd pair it with a one syllable name like Pearl, Rose, Hope, Faith, Anne, Kate, Jane. Even using Christine/a to further honor your grandmother would be sweet.

  • Do you have to have a mn? Dominica can strongly stand alone.

  • I'm considering just leaving it as is.  Dominica Plotkin is a mouthful.

I like Faith a lot--but the combination gets sort of Catholic (which we're not) and then we tack a Jewish last name on (which we're also not), and it's a little strange.

Thanks again, everyone.  These suggestions have been incredibly helpful to us.
