Trouble TTC

We have a plan!

We had our follow up meeting with our RE yesterday and it couldn't have gone better...we finally have a plan! She went over all of our tests we did and said that everything looks good. My hormone levels all looked fine, egg quantity and quality look great, passed the glucose test, etc. When I did my ultrasound on CD2 the nurse said my ovaries looked a little cyst-like and that it could be indicative of PCOS. My RE didn't think so though, and said that they look cyst like because of the amount of eggs in them (my cycles are usually anywhere from 40-75 days long, so I obviously don't ovulate every month). I also don't really have any other PCOS symptoms.

So, she thinks that we're a good candidate for IUI and at the start of my next cycle I'll be put on letrozole and if everything goes well, we'll do the IUI. I still can't believe that this is finally happening! After almost two and a half year of TTC, I feel so ready to do this.

Congrats on having a plan!  Did you get your DHEA-S levels checked?  If those are high, then it's likely adrenal hyperplasia, which I have.  (I know everyone is sick of me asking everyone if they did this test, but I haven't seen anyone else with AH in their siggy, so it's kind of a mission for me to raise awareness, etc.)  AH can mimic PCOS in most ways (except for the insulin resistance), and does cause polycystic ovaries.  I'd make sure you have this condition ruled out because it's easy to treat, so I'd hate for you to miss detecting it when treatment is one tiny pill a day.

Good luck, and I'm glad that you're getting somewhere after 2-1/2 years!

I'm not sure if I had this checked. Would it be one of the ones checked on a 'normal' panel? I don't mind you asking; I'd rather get things checked out and get the full picture. I just want to clarify though that I don't really have PCOS symptoms. My cycles are longer, but my RE didn't think that it really was cysts on my ovaries. Thanks for letting me know about this test!
