Up every hour

Ok my guy has never given me long stretches at night but we were finally progressing towards 2 wakes a night with restful sleep in between. All of a sudden Friday night he woke up less than 3 hours after being first put to bed starving. Then was up literally every hour after. I thought maybe it was a one time thing, but no, every night now he is up every hour fussing. I've tried feeding, paci, letting him fuss a little but that turns into full blown screams, rocking, reswaddling, etc. help! :

Re: Up every hour

  • Us too - it was every 2 hrs last night (thankfully just my son and not both)  Thinking it's the 4 mo wakeful period.

  • Same here!! :( My LO used to only get up once or maybe twice a night and it's been over a week and she is still getting up 3 to 4 times during the night. It is KILLING me! She is 3 months and 1 week so I'm just wondering how long the growth spurt lasts?? It sucks. This is the worst one so far. UGH!
  • OK, glad I am not alone! I thought something might be wrong ha good luck to us all!

  • DS is going through this too, he used to sleep 7 - 9 hours a night but he has been waking up every 3 hours screaming because he is starving!  You would think we never feed him.

I've never heard of the 4 month wakeful - going to check that out. I thought we were just taking a few steps backwards... happy to hear we are not the only one going through this.

Any advice for the 4 month wakeful?

^ I was gonna say 4 month wakefullness. Try to get them to stay awake more during the day so that they want to sleep more at night. Dark room (thick curtains to block out light) and a sound machine (I use a humidifier). Could also be teething. Ask your DR about Infant Tylenol or Infant Motrin or teething tablets but TALK TO YOUR DR FIRST :-P

  • DS was doing this started last Wednesday night.  THe last 2 nights he went back to normal.  Probably just a phase.  Try to get him back to sleep with as little interference as possible.
