2nd Trimester

Accepting Compliments/Congrats on Pregnancy

We're blessed to have many people excited for our new arrival. However, when clients or colleagues congratulate us on our pregnancy, I never know what to say other than  "thanks, we're really excited." Seems so trite. Any suggestions on how to genuinely respond without getting into too many preggo details?

  • I feel the same way.  It gets so redundant.  The only suggestion I can make is switching it up between "Thanks, we're excited" as you've been doing and "Thanks, we feel so blessed".

  • There's nothing wrong with simply saying "thank you".
  • Yea, I find it a little awkward too, but I usually just say Thank you, we're excited, I think that's fine!

  • I don't get what's wrong with just saying thank you. Just smile and enthusiastically say, "Thanks!"

What's awkward to me is all the people asking how I'm feeling. I'm like, do you really want to hear about the nausea, back ache, and indigestion? Really?

  • I say thank you, answer a FEW follow up questions but other than that, I change the subject REALLY quick, I don't like to just talk about just me anyways.
