Post Partum Appt?

Is there any reason I should bring my boys to my 2 week post partum appt tomorrow?

My SIL is in town and offered to come stay with them but I just didn't know what to expect at the appt in order to decide what makes sense... esp since I am a FTM and I always see women with their LOs at the office.

  • I think if you can leave them home, you should.I do not remember much about the 2 week pp.And it was only 6 months ago.But the only reason to bring you babies would be to show them to the dr.'s
  • I didn't have a 2wk appt just a 8wk pp appt. I brought the boys to show them off and had mil stay with them in the lobby.

  • I asked my ob office this question because I also always saw babies there. They said the doctors like to see the babies that they delivered! So I brought mine!

  • I brought mine with me and ended up wishing I hadn't. I didn't have a choice since my husband was at work and I had not yet worked up the courage to ask anyone to watch them for me. At my appointment they did an internal exam, breast exam etc and it made me completely unavailable to the two screaming and wide awake (of course...perfect timing) babies in the room. You will have other opportunities to show them off. Another option would be for your SIL to go with you and wait in the waiting room with the babies.

  • I had a 5w pp appt. The boys were only a week out of the NICU at that time, but I brought them for my MFM to see. She let us wait in her office instead of the waiting room.

  • My boys were EBF and not on a predictable schedule at that time, so they came with me but stayed in the waiting room with my mom. There was no need for them to be in the appointment.

  • I tried to bring mine but they freaked out in the waiting room and we had to leave before I saw the doctor.  I went back without them.

I brought mine, but had no other choice. They just stayed parked in their DSNG in the corner. Have SIL watch them. Take the long way home and stop by Starbucks. :)

  • My OB specifically told me not to bring the babies to my 2 week appt.
