Toddlers: 24 Months+

double stroller recs?

I"ve been searching and searching for a double stroller! I know that doubles are bulky and sometimes heavy so I wan to make sure I choose one I'm going to like. Here's some of the things I've thought about so please consider when recommending yours! I know I might be asking a lot in a stroller so I tried to put my list in order of importance as I know I might not be able to get everything I want for my price. (max $200-$250- preferably less).

Additional info: My kiddos will be about 2.5 years apart. We live in a town- there are many sidewalks. I think a side by side would fit- but it'd be tight. We don't go for walks/out in the winter much because it's so dang cold here but the stroller is used a lot in the summer as we only have 1 car right now. It would also be used for a Disney trip in October (baby will be 4 months) and inside places like the mall. We will also use it for places like the aviary or the zoo. Originally I wanted a jogging stroller but after reading that baby can't use until 6 months... So that's out for now (but i'll be back in a year or so for those recs!)

I want my kids to be comfortable and safe. Those are top priorities.

Generally I'm not a fan of sit and stands, but this is one I like because the carseat would fit. - https://www.amazon.com/Graco-Ready2Grow-Stand-Stroller-Metropolis/dp/B005VM63X0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327429766&sr=8-1

-DS#1 would be comfy in the front seat while baby can stay in car seat. Once baby is old enough to move out of  carseat, DS will be closer the 3.5. *For those who have sit and stands, do you think your older child would prefer an actual seat or do they like the ability to stand?

Right now we have a pontiac sunfire, and so there's not a lot of trunk space and won't be much backseat space with two carseats so it needs to be able to fold up pretty compactly.

I'd prefer a stroller that is easy to put up and down and is light (we live on a second story)

I would like there to be a good sized basket and drink holder for me and kiddos. In summer, long walks and trips to the grocery store are often.

While I love bright colors, I'll worry about that if there are options in the stroller that I find. We'll have 2 boys tho- so no pink :)

Bring It On! :)

Thanks in Advance!

  • My daughter will be 2 1/2 when this little arrives and we bought the City Mini double. I'm also looking to get the Joovy Caboose Tandem stand on stroller to leave in the car for shopping excursions.

  • I have a BOB Revultion, I loved the single so I got the double.  I just it everywhere, walks, mall, zoo, runs.  I bought the car seat adapter, so I've been able to run with both of them since DS was about 4 weeks.  You just have to run on a smooth surface, so no up and down sidewalks.  It's just like the baby being in the car.  I also still use the single BOB, so if we're going somewhere like the book store or a place DD will walk, I take the baby in the single.

  • I have the baby jogger city mini double and love it.  Although it's a bit out of the price range you quoted.

  • A sit n stand like you have linked above will be fine for your price range but FYI it will be bulky, turn crappy, creaky, and heavy.

You will need a "real" double for long walks, disney, longer trips to the mall and most 2.5 year olds need a "place" to nap or rest. The sit n stand is good but even at 2.5 they will stand up and just walk off as you are moving when they see something they want.

We have a city select which is a single that can convert to a double with stadium seating, you can drop a car seat in it, I have a toddler board so I can do toddler & single, turns easily, not bulky, but it is out of your price range (unless you can buy one used).  We also have the city mini GT (side by side) and it is very wide ...but fits through a standard doorway, this stroller is great with two toddlers but for baby +toddler I highly recommend the city select. I have learned through almost 5 stroller purchases you get what you pay for with doubles

  • We have the Britax B-Ready.  I love that you can place the infant seat on the top or bottom seat.  Both seats recline very far and the top seat has a sizable canopy.  I like the placement of the seats and have never had an issue with it.  The kids like riding in either seat.  It steers like a dream.  It has a large basket and a zippered opening in front for easier access.  It doesn't have a cup holder but we just used our Joovy one that fit perfectly over the handles.  Every  now and then you can find a promo where if you buy the B-Ready as a single you can get the second seat for free.  The only downside is that I don't think it'll fit in your Pontiac.  The back wheels are pretty big.

  • We have a Baby Jogger City Mini and love it. It's very lightweight and easy to fold. You do have to buy all the accesories seperatly, which makes the price go up, but if you are using it every day I think it would be worth it. You can usually get good deals right before the next years models come out.

  • I've been looking for doubles right now and honestly can not find a new one for under $285! I'm finding that you can get an umbrella stroller for under $250 but you can't put a new born in that. I've been checking Craig's List regularly and will start hitting up consignment stores in the spring. Ideally I want a City Select, Bumbleride Indie Twin or BOB double because they seem to be loved the most. All of those new are well over $600 though, boo!

  • DS1 will be 26 mos when DS2 is born.  I have looked into about every double I can find but I keep coming back to this Baby Trend sit n stand Double stroller, it can accomodate any brand of baby carrier and I can put the carrier in the back and the toddler in the front.  I'm also looking at the Baby Trend Sit N Stand Ultra because I can put the baby carrier in the back where the jump seat is and put my toddler up front and save about $60 that way.  Either way my toddler is being secured in a harness seat because I don't trust him to not jump out of the jump seat yet.  When baby is big enough to sit in the harness seat then toddler will be old enough for jump seat IF I go with the Ultra.  If I get the double it doesnt matter as they both have a harness seat.

  • I was looking at the Graco RoomFor2 and the Baby Trend Sit n Stand Ultra. I had planned to buy the seat at the BRU trade-in event to get 25% off. BRU stopped selling the Graco, and I ended up choosing the OnBoard Air infant carseat, which wasn't compatible with the Graco anyway. We haven't set it up yet, but from using it at BRU, I think the seat will meet our needs. As a bonus, my 6 yo had no trouble pushing it around the store with her 2.5 yo sister and my BFF's 3 yo son. I figure if she can do it, it must be okay.

Does your 4 year old sit in the bottom seat?

This is the stroller I want to get but wasn't sure about that seat placing.
