Do you pay for them?

I told DH that next time I go to meijer with DS I think I'm gonna let him sit in the "car cart". He was all, "zomg NO. It cost money!" I asked how much money, he said he wasn't sure, he thought $1.

um.. For one dollar, you better bet your assss that I'd let DS watch tv & play drive so I can grocery shop with him distracted.

(I do pretty much all the grocery shopping and usually do it with 2 kids)

Nope, ours are free.

NO I would never pay for a cart or stroller.  We have those things for free at my grocery store.  Weird that they make you pay for it.

The "nicer" ones at Meijer with the TV are $1.  Other ones that are just the car and no TV are free.  I don't think our Meijer has them anymore.  And even if they did, they are a pain because you can't take them outside, you have to load up a new cart.

This type, right? Smaller basket, PITA to turn.  Add in a daredevil child that unbuckles and rolls out while it's moving.  I am not paying for that fresh hell.

I thought they were always free. I see the car ones all the time, but I would rather let her push one of the mini carts for kids.

I've only seen the "kids karts" from a distants so never really got a grasp for what the flaws are.

They're free here but there are three reasons I don't use them.

 1.  I don't take the girls grocery shopping with me.  That's my time, yo.

2.  Whenever I go, I see parents of singleton children strolling around with only one kid in it while parents of more than one kid are struggling with two kids in one regular cart.  That irritates me to no end. 

3.  The cart part of the kid's shopping carts are like half the size of the regular carts, so I wouldn't be able to get as much stuff in one trip.

Yeah, they have these at Trader Joe's!  My daughter is getting old enough to push it around, except I can't get her to stay with me in the aisles with it, she just wants to push it out the door.

I have never used one of the kids carts, but they are free here.

They are hard to push.

They don't have as much room for groceries.

They are only a few per store and I was not willing to risk potential pouting if none were available.

Ours had some, but they diappeared last year. Usually I am alone or my youngest is with me. I give him his own list and a hand basket to carry. It keeps him happy.

Nope. They're free here. They are just sitting right out front with the rest of the carts.

It is free at my grocery store. Ours has the steering wheel/kid seat at the front of the cart so they are still up high and not able to escape. No tvs though, never heard of that.

I have never seen one with a TV ...must not be a Midwest thing.  In general, I have a problem with kids watching TV when they should be able to handle a "everyday" activity like going to the grocery store, riding in a car (short distances), waiting at a restaurant, etc.  I feel like the TV becomes a babysitter because their parents don't want to deal with parenting and would rather have a zombie than teach qualities like patience, dealing with activities that are boring, etc.  End of soap box.

That would barely fit my wine and beer.

lol actually the cart itself is huge and I hate it because it's so long. We can get TONS of wine in beer in there, no worries.

Our grocery store has childcare available. I've never used it before, but it looks nice inside. It's for children 3 and up and they must be PTed.
