I don't know how normal it is, but my almost 3yo remembers a lot of things that surprise us - details about her 2nd birthday party, for example. I'm curious to see if she still has those memories when she's 5, 10, etc.

I think normal too. DS does this sometimes and it always fascinates us how sharp his memory is from random things awhile ago but I still think it's normal.
DD remembers things from a year ago, it almost makes me crazy, especially since I can't remember last week let alone almost a year ago.
She can recall details of where somebody was standing, who said, what, etc. I'm assuming its because she doesn't have as much other useless stuff clogging her brain like we do?!
